Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her independent single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to perform on Rihanna references. She was officially signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a a music video. Then, on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, No One as well as Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then she released the song as a solo single to her first album. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. In December 2018 she was a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
